Social Media Video Trends in Morocco for 2026: What's Working Now
The platforms changed, the algorithms evolved, and what worked last year won't cut it anymore. Here's what Moroccan brands need to know about video in 2026.
If you're still posting the same type of video content you were posting in 2024, your reach has probably dropped. Not because your content got worse — because the platforms got pickier about what they push.
Here's what's actually working for Moroccan brands on social media video right now, based on what we're seeing across our client campaigns.
Raw over polished
This is the biggest shift. Two years ago, the trend was cinematic, heavily edited content. In 2026, the algorithm — and more importantly, the audience — favors authenticity. That doesn't mean sloppy. It means intentionally human. Behind-the-scenes footage, founder talking directly to camera, the messy reality of running a business. People connect with imperfection.
Short-form is still king, but longer formats are coming back
Reels and TikToks between 15-45 seconds remain the most reliable reach drivers. But we're seeing a return of interest in 2-5 minute content on YouTube and even Instagram. The key is that every second needs to earn its place. Front-load the hook. Get to the point. Respect people's time.
Local language wins
This is huge for Morocco specifically. Content in Darija consistently outperforms content in French or English for local audience engagement. If you're a Moroccan brand targeting Moroccan consumers, speak their language — literally. We've seen engagement rates triple when brands switch from French captions to Darija voiceovers.
Vertical video everywhere
This shouldn't be news anymore, but we still see brands posting horizontal videos on Instagram. In 2026, vertical (9:16) is the default for social media. If you're still shooting horizontal and cropping, you're losing quality and composition. Shoot vertical from the start.
Story-driven product videos
Product showcase videos that just show features are dying. What works now is wrapping your product in a narrative. Don't show us the bag — show us where the bag goes. Don't show us the restaurant — show us the date night. Context and emotion drive shares and saves.
The brands that will win on social media in Morocco this year are the ones that invest in consistent, authentic, locally-relevant video content. Not one viral video — a steady stream of content that builds trust and keeps you visible.
